The Alpentherme is a rehabilitation center of the Austrian Ski Association
The Alpentherme, together with the directly connected Alpentherme Gastein Health Center, has been the official rehabilitation center of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) since May 2022. With our many years of expertise in the fields of training and regeneration after injuries, we offer top athletes of the ÖSV optimal conditions for rapid and targeted rehabilitation.
In close coordination with rehabilitation center manager Andreas Hochwimmer, the athletes work with our physiotherapists, sports scientists and medical professionals on their comeback.
The history of the ÖSV rehabilitation center in Gastein
The idea of establishing a rehabilitation center for the ÖSV in Gastein arose from the close cooperation between our health center and the Austrian Ski Association, which has existed for decades. In May 2022, this cooperation was officially consolidated, and since then numerous top athletes have been using our facility to regain their former strength after injuries or operations.

From physiotherapy and medical care to sports training facilities – with us, athletes find everything they need for successful rehabilitation in one place.
They are accommodated in the Aktiv- und Gesundheitsresort das GXUND, which is directly connected to us via an underground passage.

From underwater therapy in our radon-containing thermal water, individual physiotherapy and massages to electrotherapy - the therapy options are modern, diverse and specifically tailored to the requirements of top athletes.
Innovative therapy equipment for training & regeneration
In addition to comprehensive therapy offerings, athletes also have access to state-of-the-art technology, such as the AlterG® – our anti-gravity treadmill, radial & focused shockwave therapy up to >IHHT (interval hypoxia-hyperoxia training). Our cold chamber with its -110 degrees Celsius also enables fast and effective regeneration.
Access to the entire thermal spa landscape
Athletes also benefit from the regenerative properties of the thermal water as well as from our sauna area in the Alpentherme, the relaxation areas and the ultra-modern fitness center, our Sports World, which is used for conditioning training.
Individual rehabilitation processes and therapy plans
The rehabilitation stay for ÖSV athletes is individually tailored to their needs. Depending on the type and severity of the injury, the duration of the stay and therapy plans vary. Regular coordination between our team and the rehabilitation center manager is essential for the targeted and gentle restoration of physical performance, so that athletes can return to competition mode as soon as possible.
